City Tavern served as the unofficial White House during the revolution, hosting our founding fathers with an elegant atmosphere and gourmet cuisine. A landmark since 1773, City Tavern is now celebrating over 230 years of hospitality. Today the tradition continues. Chef Walter Staib’s menu, inspired by 18th century cuisine, is prepared fresh from farm to table. Enjoy traditional cuisine and try Thomas Jefferson & George Washington’s original recipes for ales. With ten elegantly appointed dining rooms, costumed staff and a spacious garden, City Tavern is the ideal location for every celebration.
