University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology

Established in 1887, this world-renowned museum has sent more than 400 archaeological and anthropological expeditions all over the globe, and its researchers continue to make international headlines with discoveries. Three gallery floors feature materials from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Africa, Asia, Polynesia, the ancient Mediterranean world and the Americas, plus special exhibitions. Highlights include Egyptian mummies and architectural remains of a Pharaoh’s palace, Mayan monuments from Central America, Alaskan Inuit parkas, West African dance masks, and ancient Buddhist sculpture.
